It started with a dish rack that never got clean.

The tray underneath always had water in it. The corners went slimy. Wiping it down became its own chore — and the thing was supposed to be saving us work, not making more.

We looked at what actually solves it. Diatomite: a soft, porous stone that pulls water in and lets it evaporate on its own. No tray to empty, nothing for mould to grow in. Restaurants and Japanese households have used it for years.

The problem with stone mats was that they're rigid slabs — they sit on your worktop permanently, taking up space you don't have. So we built ours from individual slats on a flexible backing. It folds in one move and goes in a drawer.
